It is fitting that the Lord chose to call Father home, after nearly 48 years of priesthood, on the day that we celebrate the Supper of the Lord, the Institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Priesthood. He is indeed a priest forever. We can all agree that this world was made a better place because God had blessed it with the gift that was Fr. Richard for the last 73 years. Now he belongs to his Maker. In the loving arms of his father, Joseph Guastella, his beloved mother Coletta (Curley) Guastella, accompanied by his brother Joseph Guastella who passed away last Thursday, April 2, 2020, may Fr. Richard journey to be at peace with God forever. I know you will join us in sending our deepest condolences, love, and prayers first and foremost to the Guastella family at this most trying time. Fr. Richard was the strong Spiritual Leader of the Parish he loved so deeply, the Church of St. Clare, since 2008. During these most challenging and sorrowful times, Fr. Richard would want all his parishioners to look to the Lord for strength. Please pray with us during this Holiest of Weeks privately as well as participating in our Holy Week services through Easter Sunday in your home via live stream. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Richard and for the repose of the soul of his brother Joe. We pray to God to watch over all of us as we struggle to deal with our sadness. We know you may be wondering about a Memorial Mass. In light of recent events, a Memorial Mass to celebrate Fr. Richard's life will take place at the Church of St. Clare, which will be announced at a later date. Eternal rest grant unto them o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. |
